Moxie listed in Glastonbury Festival’s Emerging Talent Competition 2015 longlist

My band Moxie have made Glastonbury Festival’s longlist in the Emerging Talent Competition 2015.

120 acts have been chosen from the many thousands of acts who entered by a judging panel made up of 40 of the UK’s finest online music writers. These writers include Clash Magazine who selected Moxie saying we have: ‘Skillfully executed, folk-derived songwriting’.

Listen to Glastonbury Festival’s Longlist playlist on Soundcloud here which includes our song Ten Years.

You can also see us performing Let’s Dance & Cotton Wool at Threshold Festival last year & find our more about us here!

Here are images of the artwork in my solo exhibition: ‘I’ve been using art as therapy all my life honey’, which is at dot-art showroom, starts tomorrow & runs until 27th September 2013.

The exhibition is open to the public Mon-Fri from noon-6pm. Viewings at other times/days can be made by appointment! Although there is no private view for the exhibition, I will be at the space on Friday 16th August from 5pm-6pm if anyone wants to talk to me about the work!

New illustrations

Some new illustrations…

All are available to purchase for £35.00 unframed (framed prices vary). Limited edition prints (1/15) are also available for £25.00 (A4) or £30 (A3). Please email me at: jazamin@mac.com or call 07811059702 for more info.

Improvathon 2013

Here are images of the artwork I created for 33.33 hours (2013 minutes) during Impropriety’s depraved & debauched Improvathon 2013. I documented scenes as they happened in front of me and used quotes for a lot of the pictures. I only slept for about an hour when I literally passed out/couldn’t keep my eyes open any longer. As a result some of the episodes/scenes could quite possibly be a bit mixed up and some of the outfits are painted using the wrong colours. To be honest, some pieces are also considerably better than others: I was after all improvising & didn’t have a clue what I was going to do when I got there. They got a bit better over time.

If you want to know more about the story/plot read the live blog from the weekend.

if you want to see some of them in real life, a few of these pictures are currently on display at The Egg in HeadSpace@EggSpace’s Painting Exhibition which is up until 12th May 2013.

All are available to purchase for £33.33 unless marked sold. Limited edition prints are also available from £20.13 (A4 size). If you were a cast member or part of Impropriety’s team, I am offering everything at 1/2 price. And if you want them framed they will cost more. Please email me at: jazamin@mac.com or call 07811059702 for more info.

DEMANDING MIME – #rewritingtuebrook

Today I took to the streets of Tuebrook as a demanding mime as part of Tuebrook Transnational’s latest project Re-Writing Tuebrook – The Word on the Street.

And here is a picture of me doing just that…

DEMANDING MIME

With me, I had a balloon on very long string attached to my wrist, and a sign that read:

i am a demanding mime.
i exist on the demanding streets of tuebrook.
tell me how you feel about tuebrook.
use the magnets to create your answer.
then pose for me to take your photograph.

Here are pictures from the day as well as responses that people made to my demands:

Tuebrook Transnational are a group of local theatre makers, artists, writers and producers who collaborate with other local residents to create and produce inclusive cultural events on the streets of Tuebrook.

Re-writing Tuebrook…!

Re-writing Tuebrook

14th June – 21st July 2012

Re-writing Tuebrook is Tuebrook Transnational’s new project in which we will work together with a group of Tuebrook residents in the creation of a collective site-specific event in the streets and other public spaces of Tuebrook. Re-writing Tuebrook will use written and spoken words to creatively re-imagine Tuebrook’s public spaces. We are looking for people from all walks of life. No previous experience necessary.

Project description: Through six, weekly workshops, we will learn the necessary creative and writing skills that we need to be able to collectively explore different ways to present residents’ thoughts in Tuebrook’s public spaces. We will do it by using words strategically and creatively.

Writing interventions could range from: Writing statements made by residents at different public sites for everybody to see; Writing messages on mosaic plaques that will have a permanent presence;  Using public billboards to announce personal messages…
